I remember most of what I hear and read people say I have a photographic memory but its not, what is it?

I am at university and get top grades (top 1% nation wide) with little effort, people say I have a photographic memory but I don't remember what I see I remember what I hear and less often read. I am curious what kind of memory do I have. I also have a great capability to apply what I have learned not just recall it. I study medicine.
