Can photographic prints be exposed to light after fix?

The "fixer" is exactly what it says. It fixes the processes in the emulsion. Once you expose your print to the fix, the development process is done. The rinse is to get rid of all the nasty chems left over on the paper. If that's what you want to do, you can carry a dripping print out of the room to a rinse sink.
